CHILDREN'S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:
YOU CAN DO IT!

Welcome to our sign-up page for children's religious education! Our parish provides catechesis for all children by equipping parents with the tools, resources and support they need to successfully teach their own children the Faith. We lean heavily on A Family of Faith curriculum by Sophia Press. This curriculum was created in recent years with the focus of engaging the whole family -- from young children to parents -- in the journey of growing in understanding and practice of the Faith. Raising children as well-formed Catholics may seem a challenging task; some days are really, really difficult! By God's grace, and through the beauty and structure of the family, God has uniquely given parents what they need to educate their children. No catechist can catechize your children better than you; because no catechist can be you! So don't worry; with God's grace you can do this! And we'll be here as your parish community, supporting you all along the way!

  We use A Family of Faith because it is uniquely crafted to help children learn the joys of following Jesus Christ and the truths of the Faith through the Christian witness lived by their parents. Recent academic studies have revealed that the lived witness of parents is the most important factor (by a huge margin!) in ensuring their children develop strong virtues and continue in the Faith of their parents. A Family of Faith provides parents an easy-to-use resource for catechizing their whole family, and in the process, helping them on their journey to heaven.
  
  HOW DO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN PARTICIPATE?
  
  All families with children of any age are welcome to join (not just K-5)! So don't worry about having to find something else for your older children to do; they are welcome to join us.
  
  From Oct-May we will gather on the 2nd Sunday of each month, following 10 AM Mass, for a special Family Sunday Event.

  Family Sundays will feature a potluck, a spiritual reflection, and family discussion topics that support A Family of Faith.
  
  Purposefully Catholic is an online resource produced by the parish. Purposefully Catholic features our pastor, Fr. Len, as well as Fr. John, pastor at St. Thomas. Each episode of Purposefully Catholic will be used to support A Family of Faith as Fr. Len and Fr. John offer pastoral guidance on the topics covered by the resource. Episodes of Purposefully Catholic will be released regularly and will be available as a video on the parish's YouTube channel, or a Podcast for on-the-go listening.
  
  WHAT MATERIALS DOES MY FAMILY NEED TO PARTICIPATE?
  
  A Parent Guidebook for A Family of Faith is required for each household to participate in this program. You can order and pay for this resource through the online sign-up form for the program located further below on this page. Books will be distributed at the first Family Sunday after the books are delivered to the parish.
  
  A Children's Activity Book for A Family of Faith is also recommended for each child, though a single book could be shared between children in the same household with some parental creativity. These activity/workbooks are geared toward children from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
  
  You can indicate how many books of each type you would like on the program sign-up form.
  
  ADORATION
  
  As an additional prayer opportunity, your entire family is invited to join us on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 6-7:30 PM for a special time of praise & worship music and Adoration of the Holy Eucharist. (Please check the monthly parish calendar for changes and updates)
  
  COMMUNITY
  
  As an additional opportunity to grow in fellowship, families are invited to gather on the 1st Saturday of every month to celebrate the First Saturday Mass devotion at 8:30 AM at St. Pius.
  
  The First Saturdays Devotion also called the Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Catholic devotion which, according to Sister Lúcia of Fátima, was requested by the Virgin Mary in an apparition at Pontevedra, Spain, in December 1925.   Every parent who has the desire can create a family environment that has Jesus at its center and leads their children to heaven -- it's doesn't require theological mastery -- it simply involves striving to place God first, loving Him, loving your children, and staying faithful to the practice of the Faith. Jesus is inviting you and your family to grow deeper in your relationship with Him. Your parish is here to support you!

  We thank you for your ongoing generosity and look forward to journeying with you as we encounter Jesus Christ in the life and ministry of the Church! The anticipated cost of the Family Faith Formation / Children's Religious Education is approximately $10 per participant. We are asking those who register to prayerfully discern the amount they are able to donate to help defray the costs. Anything you donate above and beyond helps support those in need and the work of the parish.
