    Confirmation
In the Diocese of Boise, Confirmation for baptized Catholics may be celebrated once the teen enters high school (9th-12th grade).  If you are an adult seeking Confirmation please contact the parish office directly.  It is presumed the teen Confirmandi has previously prepared for, and received, the sacraments of first Reconciliation and Eucharist.  There are specific preparation requirements and deadlines which must be met in order to receive the sacrament. The sacrament itself is celebrated each year during the Easter season at a date and time coordinated by the Diocese, based on the availability of the Bishop.
    • Confirmation

Preparation for Confirmation is for any high school student in 9th through 12th grade.

The preparation process will occur within a community of peers and adult mentors. Within this community we hope to journey with the Candidates and help them be receptive to the graces God desires to pour out through the sacrament of Confirmation. We are confident that the Lord desires to transform the lives of our youth and enable them to participate in the mission of the Church, and witness to the Christian faith for the rest of their lives!

The preparation process will include times of prayer in Eucharistic Adoration, developing strong relationships with other Confirmation Candidates, and open discussions about the teen's real-life experiences - joys, struggles, doubts, and beliefs - relating to the sacrament of Confirmation as well as other matters of the Faith!

Confirmation Prep will meet on Tuesday nights from 6-7:30pm in the Great Room at St. Pius X.

A Confirmation Retreat will also be a required part of the candidate's preparation journey. The tentative date for the retreat is the weekend of January 20-22. This date is subject to change. We will announce more information about the retreat as the year progresses.

The Confirmation Mass will be hosted at St. Pius X this year. The exact date is sometime between Easter and Pentecost and is set by the Diocese. The Diocese typically announces the Confirmation schedule sometime in February. We will inform families of the date as soon as we receive the schedule from the Diocese.

In addition to Confirmation prep offered to the Candidates, we also want to offer support to parents through their child's preparation process. Parents are invited to join Family Gatherings that will occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Family Gatherings will begin with a simple meal and will feature something for the entire family.

      • A nursery will be available for infants. (Availability depends on adult volunteers. If you know of anyone who would like to help in the nursery, please let us know!)
      • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) will be available for children ages 3-6 years old.
      • Children in 1st through 5th grade will break into age-specific groups.
      • Youth in 6th through 12th grade will participate in youth group.
      • High school students preparing for Confirmation will meet with their group for Confirmation Prep.
      • Parents will gather for their own fellowship and learning facilitated by the Director of Faith Formation. Through authentic discussion about the application of Catholic teachings, parents will help one another become great witnesses of faith for their children.
