The calling is clear: each Catholic bears the responsibility of responding in Faith to Jesus’ command to “Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself”. This directive drives the lay apostolate of St. Pius X Church to continue pouring themselves out for others and sharing their God-given gifts of time, talent or treasure in diverse and beautiful ways. Fueled by their love of God and nourished by His Body and Blood at weekly Mass, parishioners set out and serve their neighbor in a myriad of ways.
In additional to offering corporal works for mercy through that myriad of ways (see the "Pastoral Care" page), St. Pius X has several Missions through which parishioners live out their lives in Christ. These Missions generally are defined as such because in them you'll find parishioners:
We host a second collection every month where there is a "5th Sunday" that goes direction to Missions of Charity. You can donate any time to our 5th Sunday collection through the link provided.
See below to read more about our various Missions.
Our legacy "outreach" programs including our Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry (and the collection and distribution of personal care products) are still going strong thanks to the generosity of our parishioners. Both of these programs are supported by a group of parishioners that "glean" food items from local grocery stores and, when in season, food from our community garden.
Cash assistance has been limited and is generally provided in support of other programs that are engaged in case management of individuals or families. We also partner with a number of churches to help those who fall a little short in their monthly bills to "make ends meet".
Increasingly we find ourselves trying collaborate more closely with existing service providers in that vast, and sometimes complicated, ecosystem of programs that provide support to those in need. If you are one of those local charities, please feel free to reach out and connect with our Missions of Charity.

St. Pius X Church continues to support the families of Nueva Consolacion, Honduras. Over the last several years, we’ve helped build a Kindergarten, remodel their Chapel, develop a community-wide water system and with a host of other activities alongside our neighbors in Honduras.
Currently the community is building a community workcenter to provide sewing classes and a shared-use kitchen to support community activities and sales of food items. The Mercadarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament are now serving locally, staffing the Kindergarten and will be teaching the sewing classes.
