Generally financial support is used for three main purposes within the mission:
Project Support: This is one-time (or maybe more than one!) donations given in support of the many projects being developed and completed each year. The major projects have been the Kindergarten Building in 2017-18, Remodeling of their Chapel in 2018-19 and now, our largest project to date, installing a community-wide water system for this 2019-2020 program year.
Sustaining Funds: There are many ongoing expenses incurred by the mission over the course of each program year including a stipend for our Honduran Project Manager, the cost of providing food and supplies to the village during mission-week when the team visits and increasingly the cost of having experts go and evaluate are respond to local needs (engineers, doctors, etc.)
Missionary Support: Missionaries who travel to Honduras pay for their own travel and expenses. The exception to this rule is that there are some fundraisers done specifically for this purpose each year such as "Broadway Night" at Holy Family Catholic School. Missionaries work these events and the income is used to offset some of the expense for the team.
On this website, you'll find creative ways to raise some of the project money and sustaining funds necessary for the 2019-2020 program year. Click on one of the buttons above to see more about:
Christmas Cards. The "gift that gives twice" as we've been calling them. These are cards that you can buy and then send to family or friends for Christmas. Based on the donation you give for the card ($20), the recipient is recognized on our donor wall for this year's water project. It's a great way to bless both the children of Consolacion and your loved ones during Christmas. Money generated through these cards will all be dedicated to the water project.
Wooden crosses. Made here locally by artisan Tom Goonan from St. Thomas, these also make great Christmas gifts and are truly a work of love and beauty.
Honduran Art. We were gifted two large acrylic paintings by Honduran artists. These are also on display in the parish office.
If donating with a check, please make check payable to St. Pius X Church and put "Union de Amor" in the memo field.
