    • YOUTH GROUP

Parents know all too well the various challenges presented to their children in our modern times. At Youth Group we strive to create an environment that fosters a sense of belonging through authentic relationships and doesn't shy away from addressing the real questions and challenges facing our youth. Youth Group relies on the power of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of the youth and through the God-given talents of the adult mentors. By providing a space where the youth can encounter our Lord in the life and ministry of the Church, we hope to bring about a lasting transformation in the lives of the next generation!

WHAT CAN THE YOUTH (AND FAMILIES!) EXPECT AT YOUTH GROUP?

Adoration - We begin each month by combining with Family Faith Formation for a night spent with our Lord in Adoration. The entire family will gather at 6pm in the Great Room. From there, we will embark on a "pilgrimage" as we seek to encounter the Lord. Adoration will be family-friendly and feature times of praise & worship music, silence, and community prayer. Following Adoration, we will gather as a community for fellowship and to share a meal together. The entire family is invited and encouraged to join us on Adoration nights!

Small Groups - Throughout each month there are multiple opportunities for the youth to break into small groups. In small groups, the youth develop strong relationships with their peers and their adult mentors. Small groups provide an environment for the youth to have open discussions about their real-life experiences - joys, struggles, doubts, and beliefs - relating to matters of the Faith.

Apologetics - Once a month we have an Apologetics night. On these nights, the youth are presented with a talk on an apologetics topic (reasoned arguments or justification of some teaching of the Catholic Church). The presentation is given by someone with extensive knowledge or experience with the topic - typically one of our local parish priests! Following the presentation, the youth have an opportunity to discuss the topic and have a Q&A session with the presenter. Parents are welcome to come to these nights, but we respectfully ask that they remain in the back of the room to allow the youth an opportunity to engage in the topic freely.

In addition to youth group, we also want to offer support to parents as we all seek to form the next generation. Parents are invited to join Family Gatherings that will occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and coincide with one of the Youth small group nights. Family Gatherings will begin with a simple meal and will feature something for the entire family.

      • A nursery will be available for infants. (Availability depends on adult volunteers. If you know of anyone who would like to help in the nursery, please let us know!)
      • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) will be available for children ages 3-6 years old.
      • Children in 1st through 5th grade will break into age-specific groups.
      • Youth in 6th through 12th grade will participate in youth group.
      • Parents will gather for their own fellowship and learning facilitated by the Director of Faith Formation. Through authentic discussion about the application of Catholic teachings, parents will help one another become great witnesses of faith for their children.
